Privacy Policy

Last updated 31 August 2026 · Template draft: review by qualified counsel before publishing.

This Privacy Policy explains how Gloveri Ltd. ("Gloveri", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our service. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Information we collect

We collect: (a) account and profile details you provide (name, email, date of birth, photos, preferences, and profile text); (b) identity-verification documents you upload and the result of that review (see "Verification data" below); and (c) usage and device data (interactions, log data, IP address, device and browser information). Memberships cannot be bought at present, so we currently collect no payment data of any kind. When they can be, payment will be settled by a processor and we will not hold a payment method of any kind: see "Memberships and billing" in our Terms of Use.

How and why we use your data

We use your data to: create and operate your account; verify identity and keep the community authentic; show your profile to other members and let you search and filter the directory; provide messaging and other features; detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and safety issues; comply with legal obligations; and communicate with you about the service. We do not sell your personal data. We do not profile you, score you, or rank members against each other: the member directory is ordered by when a profile was last updated, and nothing else.

Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the service, including the email we send you about your own account); our legitimate interests (to keep the platform safe, prevent fraud, and improve the service); and compliance with legal obligations. We do not currently rely on consent for anything, because there is no cookie here you could switch off and we send no marketing email; if that changes we will ask you first and you will be able to withdraw it at any time.

Verification data

Identity verification is carried out by our own trained staff, not by an automated system and not by a third party. To verify you, we ask for a photo of a government ID and a selfie. These images are uploaded directly from your device to private, encrypted storage; they are never posted publicly and are visible only to the reviewer handling your case. We do not use automated facial recognition or biometric matching: a person compares the two images by eye. Both images are permanently deleted as soon as a decision is made, whether you are approved or not. After that we keep only the outcome of the check and when it was made. We do not record your document number, its type, its issuing country, or its expiry date, and once the images are gone we hold no copy of anything printed on your ID. Every time a member of staff opens a verification document, that access is logged against their account. You may delete your verification data at any time from Settings; doing so removes any image still held and resets your verified status.

Profile photos

Photos you add to your profile are uploaded directly from your device to private, encrypted storage. They are not stored in a public location and cannot be reached without a link we generate for a specific viewer, which expires. Every photo is reviewed by a member of our staff before any other member can see it; we check it against our published Photo Guidelines and nothing else, and we do not run facial recognition, biometric matching, or automated content analysis over it. If we cannot accept a photo, the image is permanently deleted from our storage and you are told which photo it was and why. You control who sees each photo: you may mark any photo private, in which case only members you have specifically approved can see it, and you may hide all of your photos at once from Settings. Approval can be withdrawn at any time. Deleting a photo removes it from our storage permanently, and deleting your account removes all of them. We keep your photos for as long as you keep them on your profile; we do not retain a copy after you delete one.

Reports and blocking

If you report another member, we store who reported whom, the reason you chose from our list, and anything you typed in the optional note. The note is limited in length, is visible only to our review team, is never shown to the member you reported or to anyone else, and is deleted as soon as the report is resolved: we keep the decision, not your account of it. The member you report is not told that you reported them. Reports are read and acted on by a person. No number of reports closes an account automatically, and we do not use any automated system to score, rank, or judge members. If we close an account, we record which member of staff did so and why, and that record is kept even if the closure is later reversed. If you block another member, we store only that you did so and when; blocking is mutual, the other member is not told, and unblocking deletes that record entirely. We do not keep a history of who you have blocked and unblocked.

Cookies & tracking

We use only the cookies the service needs to work: keeping you signed in, securing your session, and remembering that you have seen our cookie notice. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, we do not use session-recording or replay tools, and we do not embed third-party trackers, so there are no optional categories for you to switch on or off. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.

How we share data

We share personal data with service providers ("processors") who help us operate the platform, including hosting and storage, database, email delivery, real-time message transport, and error monitoring, under contracts that require them to protect your data. Our error monitoring receives technical fault reports and is configured not to receive request contents, cookies, or message text. We do not use a third-party identity-verification provider: verification is handled in-house by our own staff. We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of members and the public. We do not sell personal data.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) as required by applicable law.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account yourself, from Settings. We ask for your password first, show you exactly what will be deleted, and then do it immediately: there is no grace period and no way for us to reverse it. Deleted permanently and at once: your profile; every photo, including private ones, removed from our storage as well as from our database; your identity check and any ID or selfie image still held for it; every conversation you are part of and every message in it, for both people; your blocks in both directions; and your sign-in details and sessions. What we keep is a short list, and in every case we remove your name from it rather than keeping it against you: the record that a payment happened (we never hold card details), the record that our staff took a moderation decision, the record that a member of staff opened an identity document, which is how we hold our own staff to account, and any report filed by or about you, with both names removed. If we have closed your account, the Settings control is not available, because removing that account would remove our record of the closure with it; write to privacy@gloveri.example.com and a person will handle it.

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then delete or anonymise it, except where a longer retention period is required by law (for example, for tax, fraud-prevention, or legal-compliance purposes). If you delete your account, the section above sets out precisely what is removed and what is kept.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect your personal data, including encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR) you may also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA) you have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale"/"sharing" of personal information, and we do not sell your data. You can exercise the right to erasure yourself, without asking us, from Settings: see "Deleting your account" above. For any other right, contact privacy@gloveri.example.com.

Children

Gloveri is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we remove it and delete the associated data.

Changes & contact

We may update this Policy from time to time and will update the "last updated" date when we do. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact our privacy team at privacy@gloveri.example.com.
